Our Growing Baby

Karli had a doctor's appointment today, and it went so well!! She has grown a lot in the past week...she was about 5 lbs when she left the hospital a week ago, and today she weighed 5 lbs 12 oz!!! The doctor was so pleased, and couldn't believe how much she has filled out! I was so relieved to know that we have been doing things right with her here at home (I was a little worried because sometimes she likes to sleep more than she likes to eat).

Nap Time

This was our afternoon a couple of days ago, thank goodness Alexa finally fell asleep! It was a nice and relaxing little "afternoon sleepover!"

Pink Scooter

Alexa and her pink scooter...I love it! She got it on her birthday, and is really starting to get the hang of it! It is so fun watching her grow-up...such a cutie!

this past week

Here are some pictures from Kyle & Kaitlyn's wedding reception (tyler's brother). It was a beautiful day...Kaitlyn looked darling, K & K are so in love and happy, and good times with family.

Some more fun at the hospital! Tyler and Alexa made me so happy by spending all day Saturday and Sunday with me at the hospital and a few other places like the temple grounds (in between feedings with Karli)! It was nice spending time as a family again, I loved it, it had been a busy past week!

Karli doing her "car seat test"...had to sit in the car seat for 1 1/2 hours to make sure she could handle it...she passed!

Alexa and I enjoying the sunshine.

BIG DAY THURSDAY!!! Karli got to come home! We took a few pictures while waiting for the nurse in our room we stayed in on Karli's last night (they wanted us to get used to the oxygen and monitor we'd be taking her home on)! She weighed 5 lbs when we took her home...now we need to just keep that up since her eating was one of their biggest concerns.

Our cute little girls...Happy Fourth of July!

It is so much fun having our family together for the first time at home. It has been a crazy past two weeks...nice to have time to relax and spend some quality family time at home...(sigh of relief!)

Proud Parents

Ty and I have the two most beautiful girls, yes, we are proud of them! We have been so blessed. I love my little family!

A TROOPER through it all

Alexa has been such a good girl through this past week (I can't believe that it has already been a week!). She has been passed around from place to place, and she is just making the most of it and really enjoying it! She has had the chance to spend a lot of time with Grandma and Grandpa Shelley, her Shelley cousins, friends, etc! Thank you everyone for your support and help through everything. We wouldn't be doing this so easily with out all of you.

These two last pictures are of Alexa's time in a little break room at the hospital...she even makes friends there!

Big Sister Visit

Today I attempted to bring Alexa with me for a visit with Karli...and it went surprisingly well! :) We did have to take a little break to "run" the halls to get rid of some wiggles, but Alexa really LOVED spending time with cute Karli. It was so sweet to see her love and kiss and touch her baby sister. She couldn't stop saying "Cute" and "Karli cute."
When we were almost done, and I was just finishing up holding her, I let Alexa take some pictures...Alexa was just talking and talking with Karli, like she was carrying a conversation..."Here's you, Karli!" The nurses were getting a kick out of it.

Karli has to be under the the billyruben (have no idea how to spell it) lights today...hopefully that won't have to last too much longer. The doctor is hoping the it will help her to be less tired, helping her to have more of a desire to nurse.

SURPRISE! It's a BABY!

Tyler took me out for an early birthday celebration on Thursday, and had a really good time! We went to the Pie Pizzaria and then to Indiana Jones...well, we didn't anticipate what would be coming our way the next morning!

Tyler went to work as normal, leaving at 7:00 am. Around 8:00 am, I give him a call letting him know that I am having some strange pain that I am hoping isn't LABOR PAINS...about five/ten minutes later we talk again and I say something like this, "Tyler, you better come home right now, and HURRY, I think that the baby is coming!" I call my sister-in-law, Chelsie, to come and pick up Alexa...and as soon as Tyler gets to our house, we rush into our truck and head to AF Hospital (I was supposed to deliver at the new hospital in Murray, but didn't feel like we could make it that far).
Well, to make it short, our little girl wanted to come faster than we were...her head made it out before we even reached the hospital! As soon as I made it onto the bed, one push was all it took to get our little KARLI out.

KARLI PAMELLA SHELLEY was born SIX WEEKS EARLY! Weighing 4 lbs 11 oz, 17 inches long. Spending the start of her life in the Newborn ICU. She is such a blessing to us. She is doing really well "for her age," but it is going to take time to get her to the point where she can come home to her family.

This has all been a very different and difficult experience with Karli, but we are trying to stay positive and prayful. It has been amazing seeing the growth in her in just these past three days. She has a lot of people praying for her, and it really shows in her. She is so sweet and so cute. Tyler, Alexa, and I love her so much.
